VP - Emerging Markets Rates Trading

A leading financial institution in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced EM Rates trader to take primary responsibility for trading key Asian emerging market products, including HKD and CNH, while delivering market-making services to institutional clients. The role will focus on achieving financial targets, managing risks, and driving revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute trading strategies for HKD and CNH products, ensuring effective market-making and client flow coverage.

• Perform market analysis to support hedging decisions and optimize trading outcomes.

• Manage trading books and positions within defined risk limits and market-making obligations.

• Collaborate with internal teams (sales, risk, operations, IT, and management) to resolve issues and improve workflows.

• Maximize revenue generation and client engagement, staying attuned to segment-specific activity and industry trends.

• Share actionable market intelligence and relevant regulatory/legal insights with internal decision-makers.

• Support continuous client business operations and maintain effective collaboration across local and global teams.

• Monitor all positions and risk limits continuously, ensuring accurate booking and compliance with internal risk guidelines.

Requirements:

• Deep, hands-on experience in the HKD and CNH cash and derivatives markets.

• 5+ years of experience managing emerging market rates trading books with a demonstrable track record.

• Strong knowledge of fixed income products, with specialized expertise in Interest Rate Swaps and Cross-Currency Swaps.

• Proven ability to design trading and risk management strategies.

• Demonstrated skill in writing detailed market commentary and presenting trading ideas and strategies.

• Strong networking capabilities, comfortable engaging clients, sales teams, and fellow traders.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
