A Tier 1 construction contractor delivering works on a major hospital infrastructure project in the Shoalhaven region is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to support the project team.
This role is covering a period of leave within the safety team and will operate as the primary site safety professional, working closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager and supervisors to maintain strong safety performance across the project.
The works currently focus on external works and landscaping packages within a live construction environment, requiring a safety professional who enjoys being present on site and working directly with supervisors and subcontractors.
This is a practical role suited to someone confident managing safety independently while partnering closely with site leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day WHS leadership across the project site
• Conduct site inspections, audits and hazard identification
• Support supervisors and subcontractors with safe work practices
• Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings and pre-start meetings
• Review and monitor SWMS and high-risk construction activities
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company procedures
• Manage incident investigations, corrective actions and reporting
• Maintain project safety documentation and site reporting requirements
• Promote a strong and practical safety culture across the workforce
Project Environment
You will work closely with a strong site leadership team including:
• Project Manager
• Senior Site Manager
• Site Manager
• Two Site Supervisors
• Subcontractor workforce
While this is the dedicated safety role on site, the project has strong operational leadership and support.
Candidate Profile
We are interested in speaking with safety professionals who bring:
• Experience as a Safety Advisor or Senior Safety Advisor in construction
• Exposure to building, civil, infrastructure or external works projects
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, site risk management and compliance
• Confidence operating in a standalone safety role
• Ability to build trust with supervisors, trades and subcontractors
• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum requirement)

• Contract role initially until May
• Potential extension depending on project programme
