Based in Whakatu, reporting to the Hawke's Bay based GM, and leading a sizeable team that scales throughout the season, this role is responsible for the ongoing development and execution of the orchard division across Hawke's Bay and Nelson, building on an already successful platform. This includes overseeing orchard development, managing third-party grower relationships, procurement, annual business planning, budget management and performance monitoring – all with the goal of delivering outstanding production outcomes, balancing fruit quality, yield, cost efficiency and market requirements to maximise value for the business. You will work alongside experienced orchard and technical specialists, empowering teams, challenging the status quo where appropriate, and ensuring operational decisions translate into strong business outcomes. A strong focus on innovation, technology and data-driven decision making will be second nature to you, alongside the ability to build alignment and work collaboratively both internally and externally to achieve business goals.
This will be suited to those who can drive strong operational and commercial outcomes within an agricultural or horticultural environment and can balance traditional orchard expertise with a forward-thinking approach. You will be someone who builds strong, trusted and enduring relationships. A commercial lens will be important. You must be able to interpret financial and non-financial information, manage risk, analyse performance and convert insights into practical business outcomes that will impact across their expanding orchard environments. You may already be in senior leadership role, or ready to take the step forward and take the helm across a sizeable, multi region orchard operation.
