Apply directA well-established and highly regarded professional services firm is looking to appoint a Manager to join its Private Business & Family Advisory team.
The team works closely with privately owned businesses, family groups and high net worth individuals, providing a combination of accounting, taxation and broader business advisory services.
This is a varied role that goes beyond traditional compliance, giving you the opportunity to work closely with clients on their business performance, financial position, tax affairs and longer-term planning.
The Role
As a Manager, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of clients and act as a key point of contact, providing both technical oversight and commercially focused advice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Reviewing and overseeing income tax returns, BAS, FBT and other compliance requirements.
- Providing technical accounting and taxation advice across a diverse client portfolio.
- Working with business owners and family groups to identify opportunities to improve business performance and financial outcomes.
- Advising clients on areas such as business structuring, asset protection and succession planning.
- Developing practical, commercially focused solutions based on each client's individual circumstances.
- Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.
- Working closely with Partners and senior team members on more complex client matters.
- Reviewing work completed by junior team members and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Coaching and mentoring accountants and other members of the team.
- Keeping up to date with changes to Australian tax legislation, accounting standards and broader industry developments.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Business Services or Private Business professional who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to combine technical accounting and tax expertise with broader advisory work.
You’ll ideally have:
- 5+ years' experience within Australian public practice or a similar professional services environment.
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Strong technical knowledge across accounting and Australian taxation.
- Experience working with privately owned businesses, family groups and/or high net worth individuals.
- The ability to review complex financial statements and tax compliance work.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to understand the wider needs of a client.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
- A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of client relationships.
