Electrical & ITS Designer / Drafter

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Designer/Drafter to join a high-performing engineering team supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior engineering leadership to develop and maintain high-quality, standardised electrical and ITS design documentation. Your work will play a key part in ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency across a portfolio of infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities Electrical & ITS Design and Drafting

• Prepare, review and update detailed electrical and ITS design documentation in accordance with established standards and specifications
• Produce a range of industry-standard drawings including:
  • Schematics
  • Termination diagrams
  • Interconnection and connectivity diagrams
  • Site layouts (general arrangements)
  • Switchboard and distribution board layouts
  • Presentation/symbol drawings
  • Cable schedules
  • Bills of materials
• Ensure all drawings are accurate, well-structured, and consistent with drafting conventions

Standards & Specifications

• Contribute to the development, refinement and maintenance of electrical and ITS standards and specifications
• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure designs meet operational requirements and industry compliance expectations
• Support the creation of standardised design packages to drive efficiency and consistency across projects

Collaboration and Delivery

• Work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to translate technical requirements into clear design documentation
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to ensure high-quality outcomes
• Ensure all outputs align with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements

Skills & Experience Essential

• Proven experience in electrical and ITS drafting and design within an engineering or infrastructure environment
• Demonstrated ability to produce and review detailed drawings such as schematics, layouts, interconnection diagrams, and cable schedules
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software)
• Sound understanding of electrical systems and ITS infrastructure
• Knowledge of relevant standards, specifications, and safety requirements
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce consistent and high-quality technical documentation

• Experience working within a standards-driven or government-focused environment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards
