Civitas Talent is exclusively partnering with a premium residential builder to appoint a WHS Advisor on a short-term contract basis, covering a period of planned leave within the safety team. This role sits across an active portfolio of homebuilding and residential construction projects throughout New South Wales.
Unlike a single-site role, this position requires you to move across multiple active project sites, providing consistent, credible safety advisory support to site supervisors, trades, and construction teams. You will need to be mobile, self-directed, and confident operating independently across a busy residential build programme.
What You Will Be Doing
- Providing hands-on WHS advisory support across a portfolio of active residential construction projects throughout NSW
- Conducting site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments at each project location, driving corrective actions through to closure
- Reviewing Safe Work Method Statements and supporting supervisors and trade teams in understanding and applying them on site
- Facilitating pre-start briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inductions at site level
- Investigating incidents and near-misses, preparing documentation and supporting corrective action tracking
- Monitoring subcontractor safety compliance across the residential project portfolio
- Maintaining accurate WHS records, registers, and reporting requirements for each active site
- Supporting internal safety reporting cycles and assisting the broader WHS team as required during the cover period
What You Will Bring
Experience
- Solid experience as a WHS Advisor or Safety Advisor in a residential or homebuilding construction context — you understand the dynamics of residential builds and the subcontractor relationships that drive them
- Proven ability to manage across multiple project sites simultaneously, prioritising where your presence is most needed
- Experience working with volume residential builders, project home builders, or mid-tier residential developers highly regarded
- Comfortable operating independently with minimal day-to-day supervision — you manage your own schedule and deliver without being chased
Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum)
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Current driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle — essential for multi-site travel across NSW
Personal Qualities
- Practical and down-to-earth — residential sites have a different rhythm to commercial builds and you know how to work within it
- Self-managed and reliable — this is a cover role and the expectation is that you step in and perform from day one
- Strong relationship builder with supervisors, foremen, and trade teams at site level
- Clear communicator who can translate WHS requirements into plain language for site audiences
Why This Role?
This is a well-defined, short-term contract with a well-regarded residential builder operating an active NSW project portfolio. It is well-suited to a WHS professional who is between permanent roles, looking to expand their residential construction experience, or available for contract work on short notice. A competitive day rate is on offer for the right candidate.
