This opportunity is ideal for someone who already has some exposure to tax within an accountancy practice environment, or for an individual who has developed a genuine interest in tax and is keen to specialise their career in this area.
Working alongside an experienced tax team, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of personal tax matters while developing your technical knowledge and client management skills in a supportive environment.
The Role
As a Tax Semi-Senior, you will support the delivery of tax compliance services to a varied portfolio of clients, including company directors, owner-managed businesses and private individuals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing personal tax returns for review.
- Assisting with partnership, trust and estate tax returns.
- Supporting Capital Gains Tax reporting requirements, including property disposals.
- Managing client information requests and monitoring filing deadlines.
- Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain outstanding information.
- Reviewing HMRC correspondence and assisting with tax-related enquiries.
- Maintaining accurate records within tax software and internal systems.
- Supporting senior colleagues with tax advisory and planning work.
- Identifying potential tax issues and opportunities for clients.
- Building strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Ensuring compliance work is completed accurately and on time.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
- Exposure to personal tax, mixed tax or accounts and tax work, or a demonstrable interest in developing a specialist career within tax.
- A strong desire to learn and develop your technical tax knowledge.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Confident communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients.
- A positive attitude and willingness to take ownership of your workload.
Candidates studying towards ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualifications will be welcomed, although qualifications are not essential for the right individual.
