We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Sales & Marketing to lead sales and overall operations for a key business unit within the environmental analysis services industry. This is a leadership role for a hands-on manager who can drive sales while overseeing the daily operations of a growing team. The position is based in either Tokyo or Osaka, with future opportunities for relocation across Japan.
About the Role:
The position will be responsible for leading a team of over 30 staff members, managing financial performance, and driving sales efforts to meet and exceed budget targets. This role demands strong leadership to guide both the sales and technical teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency. The director will also be expected to manage internal and external projects, contributing to the overall growth of the business unit.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute business strategies and sales plans aimed at achieving budget targets.
- Oversee financial management, including profit and loss (P&L) and budget control.
- Manage human resources, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and staff development for both sales and technical teams.
- Lead sales activities, cultivate relationships with key clients, and seek new business opportunities to expand market presence.
- Manage and execute both internal and cross-functional projects to drive business growth.
Requirements:
- Education: A degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of management experience in industries such as general contracting, civil engineering, or environmental consulting.
- Proven success in sales and business development, with experience in new market expansion within these sectors.
- Experience managing teams of 20 or more people for a minimum of 3-5 years.
- Expertise in financial management and budget control for 3-5 years.
- Experience in human resource management, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve business objectives.
- Highly driven with a strong focus on execution and meeting financial targets.
- Native-level Japanese proficiency or business-level fluency is required.
- Business-level English proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.
