$37-40p + Super, depending on experience
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Underwriting Assistant to join our Accident & Health National Underwriting Team. This role provides essential operational and administrative support to the underwriting team, helping ensure the smooth and efficient processing of new business, renewals, endorsements, and policy administration.
You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of accuracy, service, and compliance while supporting brokers, internal stakeholders, and underwriters across a fast-paced insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support underwriters with day-to-day operational and administrative tasks
- Process new business, renewals, endorsements, and policy changes accurately and within required timeframes
- Enter, update, and maintain data across underwriting and workflow systems
- Review policy documents and prepare underwriting files for processing and approval
- Liaise with brokers, producers, claims, finance, and internal teams to resolve queries
- Follow up on outstanding information, binding instructions, and subjectivities
- Support audit requirements, file quality checks, and documentation standards
- Assist with broker service and first-level customer or stakeholder queries
- Maintain accurate policy tracking and workflow systems
About You
You are highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a structured, process-driven environment. You enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in delivering accurate, timely support.
Essential:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Customer-focused with a professional and proactive approach
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities
Desirable:
- Experience in underwriting support or insurance administration
- Knowledge of Accident & Health insurance
- Understanding of underwriting processes and policy documentation
