Study Lead

Help shape digital transformation opportunities from initial business problem through to solution recommendations and investment decisions.
  
We’re looking for an experienced Study Lead to join a leading resources organisation, supporting a pipeline of digital transformation initiatives across rail and mining operations.
  
This is a Perth-based contract opportunity, offering the chance to work across strategic digital initiatives, assess emerging opportunities and help shape solutions that improve business and operational outcomes.
  
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong business case development, strategic analysis and stakeholder engagement experience who enjoys challenging existing ways of working and identifying better approaches to complex business problems.
  
Working across the early stages of the digital project lifecycle, you’ll play a key role in framing business problems, assessing potential solutions, evaluating technology options and developing recommendations to support investment and delivery decisions.
  
About the Role:

• Lead digital studies from initial opportunity identification through to solution assessment and recommendations.
• Work with business and operational stakeholders to understand challenges, define problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop business cases, assess commercial considerations and support investment decisions.
• Conduct options analysis, including buy-versus-build assessments and evaluations of potential technology solutions.
• Research technology providers, assess vendor offerings and identify suitable solutions to meet business needs.
• Facilitate workshops and discussions to challenge existing processes and explore alternative approaches.
• Support the development of high-level solution designs, detailed requirements and proof-of-value activities.
• Assess the feasibility, benefits, risks and potential business impact of proposed solutions.
• Translate strategic objectives into practical recommendations and potential delivery pathways.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure proposed solutions address genuine business problems and deliver meaningful outcomes.

  
About You

• You’re a commercially minded and strategic thinker who can work across business and technology, challenge conventional approaches and turn complex problems into practical recommendations.
• Experience leading digital studies, technology strategy or transformation initiatives.
• Experience developing business cases, conducting options analysis and evaluating technology solutions.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to assess potential benefits, costs and risks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and shape opportunities before detailed requirements and solutions have been defined.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and assumptions.
• Experience working with technology providers, OEMs, suppliers, owner organisations or major enterprise environments will be highly regarded.
• Exposure to resources, mining, rail or other complex operational environments is advantageous but not essential.
