Technology Portfolio Financial Controller

Drive financial performance and commercial oversight across a major higher education technology portfolio.

We’re looking for an experienced Financial Controller to provide financial governance, reporting, forecasting and commercial oversight across a portfolio of IT projects and programs.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with Project Managers, Program Managers, PMO and Finance teams to provide meaningful financial insights, strengthen cost control and support informed investment decisions.

About the Role

• Manage portfolio budgets, forecasts, EACs, expenditure and commitments across IT projects and programs.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting, executive packs and variance analysis, identifying cost pressures, risks and opportunities.
• Provide financial governance and support month-end activities, including accruals, journals, cost reallocations and maintaining accurate project financial data.
• Partner with Project and Program Managers, Finance stakeholders and vendors on budgeting, forecasting, business cases and funding requirements.
• Support procurement and vendor management, including purchase orders, invoices and project cost allocation.
• Provide financial insights to support project prioritisation, investment decisions and overall portfolio performance.

  
About You

• CA/CPA qualified, working towards qualification, or degree qualified with relevant experience.
• Experience in project, portfolio or commercial finance within complex project environments.
• Strong experience across budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, variance reporting and financial governance.
• Advanced Excel skills with experience using financial, project management or reporting systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate financial insights to senior stakeholders.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work autonomously across multiple priorities.
• Experience in large or complex project environments is highly desirable, with PeopleSoft or project/portfolio management certification advantageous.
