About the School

HARKE has partnered with a growing Catholic secondary school in Melbourne’s western suburbs with a strong focus on contemporary teaching, student wellbeing and curriculum development. The College is expanding to Year 11 in 2027 and Year 12 in 2028, creating an opportunity for an experienced Science/STEM educator to play an important role in establishing and shaping its senior secondary programs.

About the Role

The school is seeking a Science & STEM Learning Area Leader to commence in Term 1, 2027. This is an ongoing teaching position with a three-year leadership appointment, combining classroom teaching with responsibility for the strategic direction, curriculum, pedagogy and assessment of Science and STEM.

The successful teacher will work closely with the Director of Curriculum & Pedagogy and lead the continued development of Science/STEM across Years 7–12. Strong knowledge of Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and VCE requirements will be particularly valuable as the College establishes its senior secondary program.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Lead Science and STEM curriculum development, pedagogy and assessment across Years 7–12, aligned with Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and VCE requirements.

  • Support the development of the College’s senior Science/STEM program as Years 11 and 12 are introduced.

  • Lead, mentor and support Science/STEM teachers to strengthen teaching practice and student outcomes.

  • Use assessment, student data and evidence-informed practice to guide curriculum development and improvement.

  • Work closely with the Director of Curriculum & Pedagogy while contributing to broader College leadership and upholding its Catholic values and ethos.

Requirements

  • Current VIT registration or eligibility for registration

  • Relevant secondary Science/STEM teaching qualifications and experience

  • Strong knowledge of Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and senior secondary/VCE curriculum expectations

  • Demonstrated experience leading curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and/or faculty development

  • Interstate applicants with relevant senior curriculum and leadership experience are encouraged to apply

  • Ability to support and develop Science/STEM teachers through effective educational leadership

  • Willingness to support and uphold the College’s Catholic values and ethos

  • Full Australian working rights
