HARKE has partnered with a small remote school community in Central Australia, approximately 2.5 hours from Alice Springs. This is a genuinely remote teaching environment where staff work closely together, know their students well and play an important role within the wider community. The school operates with a very small teaching team, including the Principal, classroom teachers and Aboriginal team teachers, creating an environment where teamwork, adaptability and personal resilience are essential.
This opportunity will suit a teacher who is deliberately seeking remote education, understands that remote living can be challenging, and sees those challenges as part of the experience rather than something to avoid.
About the PositionThe successful teacher will deliver the Australian Curriculum within a small, multi-age secondary environment and work closely with the existing teaching team.
The Principal is actively involved in teaching and covers release time, meaning everyone within the school contributes directly to day-to-day delivery. This is not a setting where staff operate independently of one another; teachers need to communicate well, support colleagues and remain flexible when circumstances change.
Resilience is the number one characteristic being considered for this appointment. The strongest candidate will bring the right mindset to remote living, remain calm when things do not go to plan and be able to maintain perspective, professionalism and consistency in a small community environment.
