If you love being close to the action, connecting with people at every level, and playing an active role across the full spectrum of health safety and wellbeing initiatives, this senior leadership role offers the chance to get involved, make improvements, and see the results of your work every day. Initiative, pragmatism and the ability and willingness to have courageous conversations will be crucial here.
Bel Group is a privately owned dairy farming business with significant scale, managing extensive agricultural operations across multiple sites in Central Hawke's Bay. Employing approximately 70 staff across nine farm units and more than 3,500 hectares of farmland in the Takapau area, the business has established a strong reputation for operational performance and long-term success.
This newly created role reports directly to the General Manager and offers the chance to take ownership of a critical business function while helping shape its future direction in workplace, health, safety and wellbeing. This is not a role for someone who prefers to work from behind a desk. This is a genuine partnership role, that will see you spending time on farm with operational teams to build credibility, identify critical risks, and provide practical, real-time health, safety and wellbeing advice and guidance. Operating within a large-scale, high-risk and regulated environment, the scope is broad and varied and you can be guaranteed that no two days will be the same.
Your core mandate will be to ensure legislative requirements and industry best practice standards are met, support robust risk and incident management processes, develop and build training and capability programmes, and drive continuous improvement across all areas of health, safety, and wellbeing. You will bring a hearty combination of energy, maturity and resilience to challenge existing practices, drive positive behavioural change, and embed a culture where safety, wellbeing, and accountability are part of everyday decision-making.
We are looking for a hands-on health and safety leader who thrives in complex operational environments and has the credibility to influence at every level of the business. You must hold relevant health and safety qualifications, have working knowledge of NZ health and safety regulations and legislation, and ideally have gained experience from within a farming, agricultural or horticultural environment. You may be in a current health, safety and wellbeing leadership role now and looking for a fresh change, or you could be on your way to the next step in your career. Either way, it will be important that you are able to hit the ground running on-site in Central Hawke’s Bay. For the right person, this a rare chance to leave a lasting mark on a growing organisation, shape the future of workplace safety, and make a genuine difference to the lives of those who work within it. Remuneration will reflect your experience. Please apply directly through this portal, or for further information, call the team at Populous People for a confidential discussion on 068758446.
