Required Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS in a production environment (compute, storage, networking, IAM)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform — including writing and modifying modules
- Strong understanding of AWS networking fundamentals (VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing)
- Experience with IAM and cloud security best practices (least privilege, encryption, secrets management)
- Ability to manage AWS accounts, including IAM roles, cross-account access, SSO setup, and provisioning workflows
- Competence in troubleshooting AWS resources across compute, storage, and networking
- Familiarity with following documentation, runbooks, and operational processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across engineering and business teams
- Ability to independently manage well-scoped tasks and escalate issues appropriately
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with Terraform Cloud, Spacelift, or similar centralized IaC platforms
- Exposure to multi-account AWS environments, Landing Zones, or Control Tower setups
- Knowledge of containerized workloads such as Kubernetes/EKS
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools like Grafana or CloudWatch
- Handling AI/ML or high-performance computing (HPC) workloads in the cloud
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
- 5+ years of relevant cloud engineering experience with a focus on AWS environments
Other Requirements:
- This position is onsite in Foster City, CA, requiring 3 days per week in the office
- Competitive W2 engagement, 6+ months contract with possibility of extension
- Must be able to work independently and effectively follow established operational procedures
- Clear communication skills necessary for collaborating across technical teams and stakeholders
