This is a unique opportunity to work within a high performing finance function at one of New Zealand's largest Community Trusts.
Working closely with the CFO, you will contribute across financial accounting, statutory reporting, audit, budgeting, governance support, finance systems and continuous improvement. Regular interaction with the Executive, Auditors and External advisors provides exposure rarely found in traditional Finance Manager roles.

Rātā manages a pūtea (fund) of around $730 million, enabling an investment of around $25 million per annum into its funding regions of Canterbury, Nelson/Tasman, Marlborough and the Chatham Islands. Since its inception in 1988, Rātā has invested over $630 million through community investment programmes to empower people to thrive.
Its long-term strategic objective is to invest in communities to enable a higher standard of community wellbeing. They intend to grow our investment portfolio so they can increase our distribution of funding over the long term.

The Role
- Prepare statutory financial statements and management reports in compliance with NZ IFRS.
- Maintain strong internal controls, GST governance and fixed asset oversight.
- Manage the annual external audit process and support the CFO in servicing the Audit & Risk Committee.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and performance analysis.
- Contribute to direct investment pre-due diligence activities and ensure investment-related information is effectively integrated into finance systems and reporting processes.
- Oversee monthly investment model uploads and associated accounting processes.
- Act as system owner for Sage Intacct and associated reporting tools, driving automation and continuous improvement.
- Lead month-end processes, reconciliations and key financial accounting activities.
- Provide support across accounts payable, accounts receivable and other transactional finance processes as required.
- Provide technical accounting guidance, contribute to risk and compliance activities, and act as deputy to the CFO for internal finance matters.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ or equivalent) with a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Strong technical accounting capability, including statutory reporting, reconciliations, GST and internal controls.
- Audit experience is highly regarded.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Commercially astute, proactive and solutions focused.
- Passionate about systems improvement, automation and continuous improvement.
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based finance systems would be advantageous.
- Understanding of the New Zealand regulatory and not-for-profit environment is helpful.
