This will appeal to those who flourish in business development. You must enjoy picking up the phone, getting out on site, and doing what it takes to turn conversations into enduring partnerships. Relatability to the NZ primary sector and the seasonality of operations, harvest and logistics in the land-based economy will be important here.
Harvest Logistics provides log cartage solutions to forest owners and managers across the North Island. They have a strong reputation and customer base, and genuine ambitions for further growth. You'll play a key role; focusing on two areas that are equally important to their success: securing new wood cartage volume and expanding their carrier network. This role will see you travelling across the north and south island.
As Sales Manager, you will identify and convert new business opportunities while building the carrier capacity needed to support that growth. Working closely with their GM and Operations team, you'll follow up on leads, generate opportunities of your own, and maintain a strong pipeline through their CRM. The GM manages pricing and commercial negotiations, but you'll be responsible for opening doors, building trust, qualifying opportunities, and ensuring momentum is maintained throughout the sales process.
Whether you're meeting with forest owners, visiting harvest crews, talking with owner-operator truck drivers, or building relationships with large corporate forestry organisations, you'll be representing Harvest Logistics in the market and creating opportunities that lead to sustainable growth.
You'll ensure optimal usage of their CRM, providing weekly activity and pipeline updates, and working closely with the operations team to identify future capacity requirements and growth opportunities. This role will see you regularly out in the field, building strong customer relationships, understanding upcoming work programmes, and positioning Harvest Logistics as a trusted logistics partner.
This is suited to a high energy, organised sales leader who loves getting out and engaging with people. We are open to your sector experience, but you’ll need a proven track record of successful business development and new business sales, or perhaps agri-banking / consulting. An affinity to primary industry will be highly regarded. You’ll be confident in making cold calls, approaching new prospects, and initiating conversations. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to connect and build credibility with everyone from forestry crews and truck owner-operators through to senior executives and board members will be important. You’ll be self-motivated, but also be someone who loves being part of driven and focused team that works at pace.
Growth projections are strong here. You will be stepping into a very well-regarded business model, with owners who value their staff, and are well known and highly respected in the industry. Please apply through this portal or if you are keen to learn more, then give the team at Populous People a call on 06 875 8446.
