Senior Software Engineer

About Our Client:

Our client is a fast-growing New Zealand business that's maturing quickly and doing it deliberately. They're looking for a contract Engineer to hold the fort while the permanent team ramps up.


The Role:

This is a hands-on, technically focused contract for a Back-End Developer who thrives in a fast-moving environment.

You'll be embedded in a capable engineering team, working across BAU support, security, performance, and a couple of meaningful uplift projects.

There's minimal domain knowledge required ato hit the ground running. The work is largely infrastructure and code-focused. What matters more is that you're technically sharp, proactive, and comfortable working with some ambiguity.
  

What You'll Be Working On:

• BAU maintenance and day-to-day technical support
• Security hardening and IAM permissions management on AWS
• Performance optimisation and code clean-up
• Replacing the existing monitoring and observability system
• Internal tools upgrade
• Some light front-end work (HTMX, Tailwind) A bonus, not the primary focus

What You'll Bring:

Technical

• Strong C# experience, both OOP and functional programming welcomed
• Solid, demonstrable AWS knowledge 
• Confidence across infrastructure, back-end systems, and security
• Some exposure to HTMX and Tailwind is advantageous

Soft Skills

To thrive in an environment of deliberate maturation where process and role definition is underway, you'll need to be:

• Collaborative and communicative - you'll be working alongside engineers, PMs, and other stakeholders
• Proactive and able to use your initiative
• Comfortable with some ambiguity and capable of seeking out the right people to get context
• Focused on quality output and able to act with integrity given the sensitivity of client data in this environment
• Willing to contribute to process documentation as the business grows into this space
