The Role
My client is seeking a Service Engineer to join their technical service team.
This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for supporting customers with the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of industrial automation equipment and systems.
The successful candidate will work directly with customers and their equipment, diagnosing technical issues and providing practical solutions across electrical, automation and pneumatic applications. The position will suit an engineer who enjoys fault finding, customer interaction and working across a variety of industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and service industrial automation equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system faults.
- Support PLC programming and control system applications.
- Troubleshoot sensors, motor controllers, servo motors and remote I/O systems.
- Service and support pneumatic and compressed air systems.
- Assist customers with pneumatic actuators, control valves and process valve applications.
- Provide technical support and practical solutions to customers.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Prepare accurate service reports and technical documentation.
- Work closely with customers and internal technical teams to resolve equipment issues.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service, safety and technical workmanship.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronic or Electrical Engineering.
- A Master's Degree in Mechatronic or Electrical Engineering will be highly regarded.
- A relevant Diploma may also be considered where supported by strong practical industry experience.
- A minimum of 3–4 years' relevant engineering or service experience, preferably within industrial automation or a similar technical environment.
- Practical experience with control systems and PLC programming.
- Knowledge of sensors, motor controllers, servo motors and remote I/O.
- Good understanding of compressed air preparation, energy efficiency and pneumatic systems.
- Exposure to pneumatic actuators, control valves and/or process valves.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- A customer-focused approach with good interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
- A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
