Our client keeps Western Australia’s mines, farms, ports and processing plants moving through reliable pump hire and project solutions. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will transform raw equipment into hire-ready assets and keep the fleet operating so customers never miss a production day. Your work will directly protect revenue and reputation across some of the state’s toughest sites.
Performance Objectives
- Assemble, align and commission diesel and electric pump packages to OEM specifications within required timeframes.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and engine faults in the workshop or on-site and restore units to hire-ready condition.
- Complete planned maintenance across the pump fleet, helping reduce unplanned downtime.
- Fabricate and modify pipework, skids and couplings in accordance with custom project drawings.
- Complete accurate job cards and update parts inventory to maintain stock accuracy.
- Provide remote technical support and prepare parts kits to help field technicians complete call-outs efficiently.
Environment and Resources
You will report to the Workshop Supervisor and join a close-knit team of tradespeople and apprentices. The fully equipped Perth metropolitan workshop includes an overhead crane, test bay, welding bays and a well-stocked parts facility.
Travel throughout Western Australia may be required for breakdowns and installations. A company vehicle and all required PPE will be supplied, together with access to consumables and specialist tooling.
Essential Qualifications
- Recognised Mechanical Fitter trade certificate or equivalent.
- At least three years of hands-on experience working with centrifugal pumps, diesel engines and hydraulic equipment.
- Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and work independently in workshop and remote-site environments.
- Current Western Australian C-class driver’s licence.
- HR licence and White Card will be highly regarded.
- Strong safety record and willingness to obtain additional tickets, including Working at Heights and Confined Space.
- Physical ability to lift equipment safely and work in hot, dusty or marine environments.
