Packaging Technologist

A Packaging Technologist, is required to join the R&D and Innovation team to provide technical leadership, governance and expertise across the Masterpet packaging portfolio. Reporting to the Head of R&D and Innovation you will be ensuring packaging solutions support product quality, food safety, manufacturing performance, sustainability objectives, supply continuity and business growth.

This includes developing, implementing and continuous improvement of packaging systems across new product development, existing product optimisation and future capability programs.

Your responsibilities in this broad role include:

• Working closely with R&D, procurement, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, marketing and external packaging partners
• Providing independent technical expertise and ownership of the packaging requirements across the business
• Lead the evaluation and development of packaging technologies
• Acting as an internal subject matter expert, providing technical leadership
• Identifying opportunities for innovation, cost optimisation, sustainability improvements and supply chain resilience

The Person

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Packaging experience across development, technology and commercialisation within FMCG, food, beverage, consumer goods or related industries.
• Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to negotiate and influence
• Experience leading packaging projects from conception to commercialisation
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor, Master or PhD) in disciplines such as packaging technology, chemical/food engineering, industrial design or materials science.

There is some domestic (regional NSW & QLD) travel in the role.

You may currently be in a similar Packaging Technologist role in either food, FMCG, animal health/ nutrition or pharmaceutical industries, however, are up for more of a challenge, perhaps with more variety.
