Embankment Group is pleased to support our client in their search for a commercially driven Key Account Manager to join their growing team. Operating at the forefront of the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and natural capital markets, our client is a specialist provider of high-integrity BNG solutions, nutrient neutrality credits, habitat banking, and natural capital consultancy services.

With the implementation of mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain requirements under the Environment Act, demand for these solutions is rapidly increasing. Responsibilities

As a Key Account Manager, you will:

  • Build and manage strategic relationships with developers, planning consultants, architects, infrastructure providers, and environmental consultancies.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across residential, commercial, and infrastructure-led development markets.
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle, from lead generation and qualification to proposal, negotiation, and contract completion.
  • Provide consultative guidance to clients on BNG compliance pathways, unit availability, and delivery options.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including ecology, land, legal, and operations, to deliver practical and commercially viable solutions.
  • Develop account plans for key clients to foster long-term relationships and repeat business.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, planning forums, and networking opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and legislative developments within the natural capital and BNG sectors.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, and reporting metrics.
  • Support the development of partnerships with landowners, consultants, and regional stakeholders.
Qualifications Essential:
  • Proven experience in key account management, business development, or consultative sales.
  • Strong commercial experience in one or more of the following sectors: Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), environmental consultancy, planning and development, ecology, natural capital, land management, property development, infrastructure, or utilities.
  • Solid understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain legislation and the UK planning process.
  • Experience managing complex B2B sales cycles and high-value client relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • A proactive, commercially driven, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate sales reporting.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
Desirable:
  • An existing network within the UK development, planning, ecology, or environmental sectors.
  • Knowledge of habitat banking, biodiversity units, or nutrient neutrality markets.
  • Experience collaborating with local authorities, planning consultants, or housebuilders.
  • Familiarity with natural capital markets and environmental policy frameworks.
Day-to-Day
  • Engage with clients to understand their BNG requirements and provide tailored solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant solutions.
  • Attend industry events and forums to represent the organisation and build networks.
  • Stay informed on market trends, policy changes, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities.
