Senior Ecologist

An opportunity has become available for a Senior Ecologist in Manchester through Embankment Group.

This role would suit an experienced ecologist who is looking for varied consultancy work, project responsibility and the chance to develop within a larger ecology team.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will support the delivery of ecological projects across a range of sectors. You will manage surveys, prepare reports, liaise with clients and help coordinate project delivery from early-stage advice through to completion.

The role offers a good balance of technical ecology, project management and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver ecological surveys, assessments and reports.
  • Manage smaller projects and support larger schemes.
  • Coordinate fieldwork, data collection and reporting.
  • Prepare PEAs, EcIAs, mitigation strategies and related technical documents.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and internal project teams.
  • Support protected species and habitat-related work.
  • Manage deadlines, budgets and project communication.
  • Assist with mentoring and supporting junior ecologists.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working in ecological consultancy.
  • Good knowledge of UK ecology legislation and guidance.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Experience with habitat surveys, protected species work and ecological assessment.
  • Confidence managing workloads and communicating with clients.
  • A relevant degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or similar.
  • CIEEM membership, or progress towards membership.
  • Protected species licences would be beneficial.
