Position Summary
Our client, a major player in the oil and gas sector, is seeking a Field Support Specialist to provide project management and technical coordination for infrastructure projects and operational initiatives, based on business requirements from both corporate headquarters and field offices.
This role is the single point of contact for all IT-related issues within an assigned region, taking ownership of IT issues and concerns, ensuring appropriate escalations, and helping determine and address root causes.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact, build, and maintain strong relationships with all levels of the organisation.
- Support all hardware and software on company desktops and provide expert second-level desktop support.
- Provide current communication and assist in the execution of IT initiatives impacting assigned sites.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date PC and accessories inventory, promoting IT standards across assigned sites.
- Respond to phone and e-mail inquiries in queue, interacting directly with customers towards resolution.
- Follow up with end users to ensure problems are resolved successfully and satisfactorily.
- Provide IT training to customers to ensure successful use of IT equipment.
- Maintain professional growth and development through continued education and training.
- Work with other IT groups to roll out hardware/software upgrades, implement new equipment and services, and assist with new product testing and special projects.
- Install and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows 11 operating systems and standard business applications on desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Document and revise all resolutions in the IT Knowledge Base.
- Manage and prioritise a heavy caseload, responding to customer requests promptly.
- Work a flexible schedule and provide after-hours support as necessary.
- Maintain detailed documentation of each service call in an online tracking system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems preferred, or comparable knowledge/experience in a technology-related field.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Certifications such as A+, Net+, MCP, MCDST, or HDI Desktop Field Support Technician highly desired.
- 2+ years of related work experience required, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Experience with PC, LAN, WAN, Wireless, and web-based solutions, and DOS-based applications required.
- Ability to set up and manage mobile devices (iOS, Android, Air Cards, etc.) required.
- Experience setting up HP LaserJet and Konica Minolta multi-functional printers required.
- Experience working with ITSM software, preferably BMC Remedy.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, non-citizen national of the U.S., or legal alien.
