AI Engineering Lead | Developer Experience & Agentic AI

Build the Future of Software Development Profusion is partnering with a leading global financial services organisation investing heavily in AI-powered developer tooling, automation, and next-generation engineering platforms.
This is not a traditional engineering leadership role.
We're looking for a builder. A technologist. Someone obsessed with creating things.
Perhaps you've built AI agents on the weekend. Created developer tools nobody asked for but everyone now uses. Started a side project, launched a product, contributed to open source, or spent late nights experimenting with LLMs, autonomous agents, copilots, and developer workflows.

The Opportunity

You'll join a team focused on radically improving developer experience across a large engineering organisation.
Your mission will be to design, build, and scale intelligent developer tooling, AI-powered workflows, internal platforms, agentic AI capabilities, and automation frameworks that help engineers move faster, write better software, and spend less time on repetitive tasks.
Working alongside senior engineering leaders, you'll help shape the future of how software is developed, tested, deployed, and supported.
What You'll Be Doing

• Build and experiment with AI-powered developer tools and agentic workflows
• Design intelligent automation that improves engineering productivity
• Create internal platforms, frameworks, and services used by hundreds of developers
• Develop developer-facing products, portals, APIs, and automation tooling
• Prototype new ideas quickly and turn successful concepts into production solutions
• Partner with engineers to identify friction points and eliminate manual effort
• Drive adoption of modern AI, LLM, and developer productivity capabilities
• Mentor engineers and contribute hands-on code across complex initiatives

We're Interested In People Who Have

• Built AI agents, copilots, developer tools, internal platforms, or automation products
• Strong software engineering capability in languages such as Go, Java, TypeScript, Python, or similar
• Experience working with LLMs, AI frameworks, agent orchestration, RAG, prompt engineering, or autonomous workflows
• A genuine passion for building and experimenting with technology
• Strong systems thinking and the ability to solve complex engineering problems
• Experience taking ideas from prototype through to production
• Curiosity, creativity, and a bias toward action

Bonus Points

• Startup founder experience
• Open-source contributions
• Side projects or products you've built yourself
• Experience with GitHub, developer platforms, CI/CD, DevOps, platform engineering, or internal tooling
• Experience improving developer experience at scale
