Quality Control Inspector Responsibilities:
- Inspect in-process vacuum truck builds by confirming specifications, performing visual and measurement checks, and communicating needed adjustments to the production supervisor.
- Inspect finished trucks by verifying specifications, performing final visual checks, initiating rework as needed, and confirming rework completion.
- Document inspection outcomes by completing reports/logs, tracking rework and waste, and entering data into a quality database.
- Monitor production areas to ensure parts and assemblies meet required production and quality standards.
- Compare builds against the bill of materials and sales release to confirm assemblies are complete.
- Interpret engineering drawings/diagrams and collaborate with management or engineering to align on quality and reliability standards.
- Select units for testing at defined production stages and evaluate dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
- Operate diagnostic equipment as needed to complete inspections and testing.
- Assist the test bay manager with truck testing and serve as backup coverage during absences.
- Support production by helping diagnose issues discovered during inspection/testing.
- Recommend design or component placement changes that improve truck function.
Quality Control Inspector Qualifications / Skills:
- Prior experience performing quality inspections (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
- Analytical problem-solver with ability to identify root causes and drive resolution.
- Strong organization, planning, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Self-motivated with solid interpersonal communication skills; able to influence and collaborate with others.
- Working knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and how they apply on the floor.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience building custom trucks is preferred, but not required.
Licenses / Certifications
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, crawl, stoop, reach, and use hands/arms; occasional use of ladders or stepstools.
- Must be able to visually inspect detailed components and assemblies.
- Occasionally required to sit and use a phone/computer for documentation and communication.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
