This role co-ordinates between Japan and countries where the the JOEM program is. The focus country to begin with is China. Therefore, mostly liaise between Japan and China.
Monitor 4-5 projects at once; make sure projects are being executed in China (other country) in the same way as in Japan. `what is done in Japan gets done in China`.
Drive the project to completion (engineering matters) (note: this is not a PM role. The PM will oversee all parts of the program. This PE role will look at only engineering matters).
(Eg: in 2017, they had a program with Mits. There was a problem with engineering which was missed in the noise and complexity of the program. Webasto found the problem but too late stage, cost Webasto a lot of money to fix......if they had this PE person in place, maybe the PE would have picked up the problem early stage.
Requirements
Mechanical engineering degree.
Experience handling mechanical products (moving parts best)
One level below the Global Customer Engineering Manager; works closely together.
Chinese person best, with good Japanese and English.
Need strong personality, not afraid to problem solve, push back internally, to get team members to execute properly.
