Davidson has partnered with Barwon Water to appoint experienced Data Engineers to join its Digital Engineering team and help strengthen the organisation’s enterprise data capability required to support one of regional Victoria’s most significant transformation agendas.

Barwon Water delivers water, sewerage and recycled water services to more than 330,000 people across the Geelong region and surrounding communities. Through a major Digital Business Transformation program, the organisation is investing in new technologies, operating models and ways of working that will shape the future of the business and the communities it serves.

About the Role

• Design, build and operate scalable batch and near-real-time data pipelines, models and reusable data products that support trusted analytics, reporting and approved AI use cases.
• Build and maintain data solutions across Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, Warehouses, PySpark notebooks and Data Factory pipelines, transforming enterprise data into trusted datasets and semantic models.
• Engineer data quality into solutions through validation, profiling, reconciliation and monitoring, ensuring issues are identified and managed before they impact downstream users.
• Apply modern engineering practices including Git-based source control, automated testing, deployment automation, peer review, monitoring, alerting and production support to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.

About You

• Strong hands-on data engineering experience across Microsoft Fabric or comparable modern data platforms such as Azure Databricks, Synapse or Snowflake, with experience building layered Lakehouse architectures, data models and pipelines.
• Strong SQL and working Python skills, with experience ingesting data from SaaS platforms, cloud services and on-premises enterprise systems using secure and supportable integration patterns.
• Experience building reliable data pipelines with data quality controls, error handling, monitoring and safe rerun processes, along with the ability to troubleshoot and contribute to root cause analysis in production.
• A strong technical mindset combined with commercial awareness and a consulting approach, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to business stakeholders, collaborate with engineers and work effectively within Agile delivery teams.
