About the business
The Yoghurt Shop is one of South Australia's great food manufacturing success stories. What began as a single stall in the Adelaide Central Market has grown into a nationally and internationally recognised brand, with products stocked in major retailers across Australia and exported to markets throughout Asia, the Middle East and North America.

Still proudly family-owned and operated, The Yoghurt Shop has never stood still. The business has experienced significant growth in recent years, expanding its retail footprint, increasing production capacity and continuing to build demand across domestic and international markets.

With plenty of opportunity still ahead, they're now looking for a Chief Operating Officer who can help take the business to the next level. This opportunity has arisen due to an internal promotion and will see the successful candidate join the executive leadership team at an exciting point in the company's journey.

The opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO and based at the Burton manufacturing facility, you'll lead operational performance across the business, overseeing Production, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance and Customer Service functions.

This isn't a role where you'll simply keep the wheels turning. The foundations are strong, but there's significant opportunity to improve systems, streamline processes, build capability and create an operational platform that can support continued growth.

Leading a team of five experienced managers, you'll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive operational excellence, strengthen leadership capability and implement the systems and processes required to support the next phase of growth.

You'll be equally comfortable discussing long-term strategy and business performance as you are walking the production floor, supporting your leaders, understanding challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Key areas of focus include:
  • Leading and developing a team of five operational leaders across Production, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance and Customer Service
  • Driving operational excellence through improved systems, processes, reporting, performance measurement and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Optimising manufacturing performance, production capacity, supply chain efficiency and customer service outcomes
  • Overseeing food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and risk management across the business
  • Supporting capital projects, automation initiatives, facility improvements and future growth opportunities
  • Partnering with the CEO and leadership team to execute strategic initiatives and ensure operational readiness for growth
  • Building a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and high performance
  • Strengthening operational resilience through effective workforce planning, asset management and business continuity practices
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building great businesses.
You'll be a strong operational leader with a food manufacturing background and a track record of improving performance through better systems, processes and people leadership. You'll know what good looks like, but equally importantly, you'll know how to bring others on the journey.

Success in this role will come from your ability to build trust, communicate openly and create an environment where people feel supported, accountable and motivated to improve. You'll be someone who leads with honesty, humility and transparency and enjoys coaching and developing those around you.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
  • Proven senior operational leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end manufacturing operations, including production, quality, supply chain and maintenance
  • Demonstrated success driving operational improvement through systems, process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong financial literacy, commercial acumen and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ERP systems and leveraging technology to improve business performance
  • A systems-driven mindset and appreciation for the role data and process discipline play in driving improvement
  • Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels
  • Experience supporting business growth, scalability and organisational transformation
What's in it for you?
Opportunities like this don't come along often.

You'll be joining a successful South Australian business with a strong reputation, ambitious growth plans and a leadership team genuinely committed to continuous improvement. You'll have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, shape the future of the operation and leave a lasting mark on a business that is continuing to grow both locally and internationally.

For an experienced food manufacturing leader who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution, this represents a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing, values-driven and proudly South Australian business.
