About the Opportunity
MAYDAY is partnering with a specialty underwriting business to recruit a Junior Underwriting Assistant to join their growing Sydney team in a newly created role.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in underwriting, supporting a high-performing team across financial lines insurance (PI, D&O, FI) within a collaborative and supportive environment.
You will gain hands-on exposure to underwriting operations, broker interaction, and portfolio support, with structured training and a clear progression pathway.

Key Responsibilities

• High-volume data entry and documentation management
• Maintain accurate and compliant underwriting records
• Support policy processing, closures, and system updates
• Assist underwriter with day-to-day portfolio management tasks
• Prepare and issue quotes, renewals, and endorsements within service standards
• Support new business submissions and retention activity

• Build strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, codes, and internal policies
• Provide clear, timely written and verbal communication

About You

• A university degree (Finance, Economics, Business preferred but not essential)
• 1–3 year’s experience in insurance, retail, hospitality, or customer focused roles  
• Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills
• A willingness to learn and develop a long-term underwriting career
