THE COMPANY:

Our client is a long-established organisation responsible for the maintenance and operation of critical navigation infrastructure around the coast of Ireland. Supporting the maritime sector through a network of aids-to-navigation assets, they play a vital role in ensuring the safe movement of commercial, industrial and recreational marine traffic.

Due to ongoing operational requirements, they are seeking an Electronic Technician to join their Coastal Operations team.

THE ROLE:

The successful Electronic Technician will support the maintenance, repair and management of electronic navigation systems and coastal infrastructure located throughout Ireland.

Working as part of a specialised engineering team, you will travel to coastal and lighthouse sites, supporting both routine maintenance activities and larger capital projects. Full training and a comprehensive induction programme will be provided.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out preventative maintenance on electronic navigation systems
  • Diagnosing and repairing electronic, instrumentation and control system faults
  • Supporting the ongoing management of coastal and lighthouse infrastructure
  • Testing, assembling and commissioning electronic equipment
  • Assisting with the preparation and installation of control cabinets, monitoring systems and communications equipment
  • Maintaining maintenance records through a computerised asset management system
  • Supporting project delivery and infrastructure upgrade programmes
  • Working safely in accordance with risk assessments and operational procedures
  • Participating in site briefings, deployments and technical training programmes
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams

THE PERSON:

We are looking to speak with candidates who have experience within electronics, instrumentation, automation, telecommunications, marine engineering, utilities, power generation, industrial maintenance or related technical environments.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualification in Electronics, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation or a related discipline
  • Strong electronic fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting technical equipment
  • Knowledge of communications systems, instrumentation, PLCs, sensors or control systems would be advantageous
  • Experience working with electronic assemblies, control panels or monitoring systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to travel throughout Ireland and work at remote locations
  • Comfortable working in outdoor and coastal environments
  • Full driving licence
