Southern Rural Water (SRW) manages irrigation networks, major water storages and groundwater across a vast and diverse footprint covering almost 40 per cent of Victoria. Working at the heart of regional and agricultural communities, SRW helps sustain local livelihoods, supports food and fibre production, and plays a critical role in strengthening long-term water security across the state. With more than $2 billion in assets and a workforce of around 170 people, SRW is in a major period of transformation. The organisation is shifting from a traditional service provider to a service enabler, modernising how it operates, embracing innovation and building the agility needed to respond to rapid change across agribusiness, investment, technology and the broader economy. This evolution ensures SRW continues as a strategically important organisation for Victoria’s future.

Southern Rural Water is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking General Manager Asset Futures to provide executive leadership across asset management, capital delivery, headworks operations, program governance and digital transformation, ensuring our infrastructure, technology and investment programs position the organisation for long-term success and community value.

As a member of the Executive Team reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the strategic management and future development of Southern Rural Water's asset portfolio, overseeing approximately $125 million in capital investment, leading a significant digital transformation program, and shaping the organisation's technology roadmap for the future. This includes providing leadership across asset management, major infrastructure delivery, headworks operations, program governance, cyber security, ICT strategy and enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives. Leading a geographically dispersed team you will work closely with the Board, Executive and key stakeholders to optimise asset investment decisions, improve organisational capability and ensure the delivery of safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes for customers and communities across Victoria.

To be successful in this role, you will bring significant executive or senior leadership experience within asset-intensive organisations, with demonstrated success leading complex infrastructure, asset management, operational or capital investment portfolios. You will have experience in leading or being involved in delivering large-scale transformation programs, including digital, systems or organisational change initiatives. You present with commercial acumen, strategic thinking and analytical capability required to develop long-term plans and drive evidence-based decision-making. Your ability to engage and influence stakeholders, build high-performing teams and lead cultural change will be critical, along with experience improving asset management capability and optimising capital investment outcomes. Experience within the water sector/broader utilities or other infrastructure-intensive industries will be highly regarded, as will exposure to enterprise technology programs, ERP implementations, data and systems uplift initiatives, and Microsoft technology environments.

Relevant tertiary qualifications such as business management, engineering, information technology or science, with postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA considered advantageous.
