Morgan Consulting is partnering with a leading organisation seeking a Senior Data Engineer for an initial 3 month daily rate (with a strong chance of extension) contract to help deliver and enhance a modern enterprise data platform built on Databricks and Azure. This is a hands-on role suited to a highly capable and self sufficient Data Engineer who can take ownership of data engineering initiatives, work proactively with stakeholders, and build scalable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and AI driven outcomes.

About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and optimising data pipelines within a modern Databricks environment. You will work across multiple source systems including CRM and business applications such as Salesforce, HubSpot, and Zoho, integrating data into a scalable lakehouse architecture and ensuring it is curated and production ready for downstream consumption. This role requires someone who understands not only how to move data, but how to model, govern, and structure it effectively using modern data engineering best practices.

What You Will Do

• Data Engineering & Databricks Development
• Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines on Databricks
• Develop and maintain Bronze, Silver and Gold layer architectures within a modern lakehouse environment
• Ingest and transform data from multiple enterprise systems including Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho and other source platforms
• Develop robust ETL/ELT processes using Databricks, Spark and PySpark
• Ensure data quality, reliability and performance across data pipelines
• Support the productionisation of data products and analytics solutions

Lakehouse & Data Platform Development

• Implement best practice Delta Lake architectures and data engineering standards
• Design efficient data models to support reporting, analytics and AI use cases
• Optimise data processing performance and scalability
• Support governance, security and lineage requirements across the platform
• Work closely with business and technical teams to understand and deliver data requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with business users, analysts and technical stakeholders
• Translate business requirements into scalable engineering solutions
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations on modern data platform capabilities
• Operate independently while contributing to broader project objectives

Emerging Data & AI Capabilities

• Support modern analytics and AI initiatives leveraging the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform
• Contribute to the implementation of advanced capabilities including semantic modelling and AI-powered analytics
• Exposure to Databricks Metric Views and Genie/AI Agent capabilities will be highly regarded

What You Will Bring Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks
• Advanced experience with Spark and PySpark
• Strong knowledge of Delta Lake and modern lakehouse architectures
• Experience building and maintaining Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers
• Experience productionising data engineering solutions in enterprise environments
• Strong Azure data platform experience
• Experience integrating data from systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, or similar platforms
• Strong SQL and data modelling capabilities
• Ability to work autonomously and proactively in a fast-paced environment

Highly Desirable

• Experience with Databricks Metric Views
• Experience with Databricks Genie or AI Agent technologies
• Knowledge of semantic layers and modern data consumption frameworks
• Exposure to advanced analytics, AI and machine learning environments
