HSE Manager (Sydney)
Location: Sydney, NSW (no set hybrid working arrangement, mostly WFH and outbound travel to operational sites )

About the role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the executive leadership team, you will lead and continuously improve the organisation’s health, safety, environment and compliance programs.
This is a standalone strategic and operational role with genuine influence to shape safety culture across diverse teams and sites, and help the business deliver on its objectives safely and sustainably.

Key responsibilities include:
Own the IMS end to end – keeping it certified, compliant and genuinely useful to the business
- Coach leaders and teams to take ownership of safety and build a proactive, learning culture
- Partner with business units on operational and project risk, from tender through to delivery
- Lead the critical risk program, with a focus on verifying that critical controls actually work in the field
- Oversee incident, non-conformance and corrective action management, plus training and compliance records
- Run the internal and external audit program and be the key contact for certifiers and regulators
- Lead significant investigations (ICAM) and make sure the lessons stick
- Lift HSE capability through training, competency frameworks and mentoring
- Manage emergency and crisis preparedness, injury management and return to work
- Turn HSE data into clear reporting and practical recommendations for the executive
- Champion digital tools that make HSE reporting and document control simpler
You are a credible, collaborative HSE leader who can influence at executive level and connect with people on site. You will bring:
- 8+ years’ experience in HSE and management systems roles
- Demonstrated experience with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 management systems
- Diploma in Work Health & Safety (minimum) or equivalent qualification
- Internal Auditor qualification (desirable)
- Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, environmental obligations and regulatory requirements
- A proven track record of developing, implementing and improving integrated management systems
- Experience leading complex incident investigations and driving meaningful corrective actions
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to operational sites as required
