HE COMPANY

This organisation is a major player in Australia's defence sector, supporting some of the nation's most critical capability programs. Backed by a global parent and shaped by recent growth and consolidation, the business is investing heavily in strengthening its safety and compliance foundations as it scales. It's a workplace where the work genuinely matters, where safety maturity is taken seriously at every level, and where the pace and pressure reflect the importance of what's being delivered.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the HSE Director, this is a hands on, individual contributor role with no direct reports, offered on an initial six month term with genuine potential to extend. The role exists to lead a complete rewrite of the organisation's EHS procedures and associated documentation, taking the current suite back to first principles and rebuilding it to align with both American and Australian standards. This means leading the end to end rewrite of procedures, standards, work instructions and supporting documentation, reviewing what currently exists and finding ways to simplify, standardise and modernise it, and translating technical and operational requirements into documentation people can actually use. It also involves facilitating consultation with operational teams, HSE professionals, subject matter experts and leadership through workshops, interviews and review sessions, owning the full document lifecycle from drafting through to consultation, review, approval, publication and periodic review, and coordinating document and version control so releases stay on schedule. The role supports internal and external audits relating to HSE systems and documentation, and requires ongoing monitoring of applicable HSE legislation and standards to keep everything current.
