- Manage a portfolio of high value, high risk commissioned health service contracts across their full lifecycle.
- Monitor provider performance, budgets and expenditure, and deliver the KPI and evaluation reporting behind it.
An opportunity has become available for a Contracts Specialist to join a well-established not-for-profit health organisation delivering commissioned services across Western Sydney. The organisation partners with providers to fund and deliver programs spanning mental health, drug and alcohol, chronic disease and broader primary care, with a focus on improving outcomes for the local community.
This role takes ownership of a portfolio of high value, high risk and commercially sensitive contracts. You will manage these agreements across their full lifecycle, monitoring provider performance, tracking budgets and expenditure, and producing the reporting that shows where services are tracking. It is a role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with program, procurement and finance teams and who is confident holding performance conversations with providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of high value and complex contracts across their full lifecycle, including long-standing programs with recurring reporting obligations and fee for service arrangements
- Monitor provider performance and compliance, working alongside program and stakeholder teams to ensure reporting is accurate, complete and delivered on time
- Track contract budgets and expenditure, partnering with Finance and Contracts Officers to ensure providers are paid on time and financial obligations within each contract are met
- Analyse service data to interpret provider performance, emerging trends and risk, and design and deliver KPI and evaluation reporting for the portfolio
- Maintain accurate contract records within internal systems, ensuring data capture meets quality and timeframe requirements
- Partner with Procurement, Reporting Specialists and Program Managers to exchange data and drive consistent contract delivery
- Support contract negotiations and lead performance discussions with providers
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve escalated complaints against providers
- Coordinate the activities and deliverables arising from project plans and meetings
- Provide training and guidance to the wider commissioned services team as required
Key Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years' experience in contract management, contract coordination or a comparable role
- Background in mental health, drug and alcohol, aged care, healthcare, human services or another provider or service-based environment
- Sound understanding of contract management principles and practices, with demonstrated experience reviewing contract documentation
- Comfort with the financial side of contract management, including contract budgets, financial reporting, monitoring expenditure and interpreting financial figures within contracts. You will need to speak confidently about how you have worked alongside Finance teams
- Strong analytical and reporting capability, with confidence using Excel and contract or data management systems
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships, including negotiations and performance conversations
- Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and time pressures across a broad portfolio
- Tertiary qualifications in health, social science or business, or equivalent industry experience
- Knowledge of the Australian health system and an understanding of how commissioning drives system change will be highly regarded
The opportunity:
This is a chance to step into a portfolio that carries weight, managing the contracts behind mental health, drug and alcohol and chronic disease programs that reach the Western Sydney community directly. You will have real ownership of your portfolio rather than administering someone else's decisions, with exposure across program, procurement and finance teams.
The organisation offers flexible working arrangements, not-for-profit salary packaging, and a values-driven culture built around continual improvement, professional development and doing meaningful work close to home.
