Collaborating with government, industry, research and public stakeholders, they are also entering an exciting growth phase.With multi-year funding in place and a major rebrand about to commence, the organisation is investing in its communications capability to match the ambition and reach of its policy and advocacy agenda – building a new public identity, strengthening its voice across government and industry, and reaching new audiences as the sector grows.
The Opportunity
Australia’s emerging food technology sector is at a genuine inflection point and this new role will contribute to its continued development and growing national significance. Reporting to the CEO and supporting the Director of Policy and Advocacy, the Head ofCommunications will align the communications strategy to organisation priorities, manage compelling narratives for diverse audiences and deliver content across all internal and external channels to amplify impact and reach.
Importantly, you will translate innovative research, policy and program work into communications and campaigns that engage government, industry and donor audiences. You will also support the organisation as it evolves following a recent merger – bringing new brand, identity and positioning to life across all channels as the organisation deepens its role as the sector’s representative voice.
The Right Fit
We are seeking a progressive, curious and dynamic communications leader who is passionate about food security, innovation and emerging technologies.
This is a strategic yet hands on role that will leverage outsourced resources as needed. Whilst not essential, agency and in-house experience will assist in supporting organisation, organisation, advocacy and campaign initiatives at pace and scale.
To be successful in this role it is essential that you demonstrate:
- Strategic communications and Implementation – develop and implement communications strategy aligned to organisational and program priorities within an evolving landscape. Effectively move between strategy and hands-on delivery at pace and scale, leveraging exceptional writing and storytelling skills to create engaging content for diverse audiences and channels.
- Policy, advocacy & stakeholder communications – translate technical and evidence-based material into communications that support policy influence, advocacy and stakeholder engagement across unique government, commercial and sector audiences.
- Donor communications – distil program activity and impact into compelling donor communications and reporting that demonstrates value creation and return on investment.
- Media & external engagement – proactively manage emerging issues and public conversations, identify opportunities and foster productive media relationships. Cultivate the personal brand of the CEO and other senior spokespeople, and support them with talking points, presentations and briefing materials.
- Digital, content & delivery - Experience managing digital channels, including website, LinkedIn, newsletters, publications, reports, campaigns and communications assets, leveraging digital design and AI tools.
