About the Role
The school is seeking an experienced Head of Faculty – English to commence in Term 1, 2027. This is a permanent ongoing position combining classroom teaching with responsibility for the leadership and development of the English Faculty.
The successful candidate will provide curriculum and pedagogical leadership, support and mentor English teachers and drive consistent, high-quality teaching and learning across the faculty.
Skills and Responsibilities

Provide strategic and curriculum leadership across the English Faculty.

Lead curriculum planning, assessment and the ongoing development of high-quality English teaching and learning.

Mentor, support and develop faculty staff while fostering a collaborative and positive team culture.

Maintain a classroom teaching load alongside leadership responsibilities, with 8 periods of leadership release per cycle currently provided.

Maintain high standards of student safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusive practice.

Contribute to the Christian life of the school, including being comfortable leading devotions and praying with staff and students.
Requirements

Current VIT registration
-
Relevant secondary teaching qualifications with English as a teaching area

Strong English curriculum knowledge and demonstrated secondary classroom experience

Previous faculty leadership, coordination or demonstrated leadership capability

Christian or Catholic educators are preferred due to the faith leadership responsibilities of the position

Candidates from other faith backgrounds or with no religious affiliation may also be considered, provided they are comfortable supporting the Christian ethos and leading prayer and devotions with staff and students
