About the Position
The College is seeking an experienced VCE English Teacher, with particular interest in teachers who can demonstrate successful experience teaching senior secondary students.
HARKE will be specifically shortlisting teachers with VCE English experience, strong knowledge of senior curriculum and assessment requirements, and evidence of positive student outcomes. Applicants should be confident preparing students for VCE assessment and supporting students across a range of academic abilities.
The College is distinctly Christian, and genuine alignment with its faith, values and ethos is an essential requirement.
Skills and Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and academically rigorous VCE English programs aligned with Victorian curriculum and assessment requirements.

Prepare senior students effectively for SACs, examinations and successful VCE outcomes.

Maintain strong expectations around student wellbeing, safeguarding and pastoral care.

Communicate effectively with students, families and colleagues while contributing to a collaborative English faculty.

Actively support and model the College’s Christian values, faith and educational ethos.

Applicants will need to demonstrate:

Recent VCE English teaching experience.

Strong understanding of VCE assessment, curriculum and examination preparation.

Evidence of successful outcomes with senior secondary students.

A genuine and active Christian faith aligned with the College’s ethos.

Confirmed current church attendance, including the church attended.

A confirmed pastoral referee who can speak to the applicant’s Christian faith and involvement.

Requirements

Registration: Candidates must hold current VIT registration or be eligible to obtain registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.

Work Rights: Full Australian working rights are essential.

Faith Requirements: Applicants must provide details of their current church, confirm alignment with the College’s Christian values and ethos, and provide a suitable pastoral referee.

Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
