Apply directA growing to 20 firm is looking to appoint a Senior Tax Consultant to join its Tax team.
This is a varied opportunity covering both tax compliance and advisory work, with exposure to clients ranging from privately owned SMEs through to large multinational organisations.
Alongside managing a portfolio of compliance work, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in transaction support, M&A, restructures and broader tax consulting projects. The role also provides the chance to take on greater responsibility within engagements and support the development of more junior team members.
The Role
You’ll work closely with clients and senior members of the Tax team across a range of technical and commercial matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and delivering tax compliance engagements across a diverse client base.
- Reviewing tax compliance work and providing technical guidance to junior team members.
- Working across multiple engagements, balancing recurring compliance work with transactional and advisory projects.
- Supporting M&A transactions, restructures and transaction-related tax matters.
- Assisting with international tax matters and cross-border considerations.
- Preparing technical advice, reports, letters and other client-facing documentation.
- Undertaking detailed tax analysis and developing practical recommendations for clients.
- Working directly with clients to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Supporting Managers and Partners on more complex tax consulting engagements.
- Coaching and developing junior members of the team.
- Building your technical knowledge across a broad range of tax consulting and advisory matters.
About You
We’re looking for a technically strong tax professional who has a solid compliance foundation but is keen to broaden their exposure into advisory and transactional work.
You’ll ideally have:
- 3+ years' experience in Australian tax consulting or public practice.
- A degree in Business, Commerce, Law or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA, Australian Tax Institute qualification or equivalent.
- Strong Australian tax compliance experience, including the ability to review work completed by others.
- An interest in M&A, transaction tax, restructures and broader tax advisory.
- Working knowledge of international tax principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- A proactive approach and strong attention to detail.
- An interest in mentoring and developing more junior team members.
