Our client is a leading regional financial institution with a strong presence across Asia. As part of its continued investment in technology infrastructure, the organization is seeking an experienced Senior Data Centre Operations Consultant to support the management, governance, and operational excellence of its critical data centre environments.
This role will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and efficiency of data centre facilities while partnering closely with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, and external service providers. The position offers exposure to enterprise-scale infrastructure supporting mission-critical banking and financial services operations across the region.
Role & Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple data centre facilities, ensuring high availability and operational resilience.
- Monitor and manage critical facilities infrastructure, including power, cooling, environmental monitoring systems, fire suppression, and physical security controls.
- Coordinate regular maintenance activities, upgrades, and testing of data centre infrastructure and associated systems.
- Manage relationships with data centre vendors, facilities management providers, and third-party service partners to ensure service delivery meets agreed SLAs and operational standards.
- Lead vendor governance meetings, performance reviews, issue escalation, and contract compliance activities.
- Support capacity planning, utilisation tracking, and infrastructure expansion initiatives to accommodate business growth and technology requirements.
- Review operational procedures and implement industry best practices to improve efficiency, reliability, and risk management.
- Coordinate incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation activities for data centre-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, audit standards, and operational risk frameworks applicable to the financial services industry.
- Work closely with infrastructure, network, security, cloud, and application teams to support business-critical technology services.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, business continuity exercises, and data centre resilience testing.
- Prepare operational reports, management updates, and performance metrics for senior stakeholders.
- Support strategic projects involving data centre migration, consolidation, optimisation, or transformation initiatives.
- Act as a subject matter expert for data centre facilities operations and provide guidance to internal teams and management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in data centre operations, facilities management, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of data centre facilities technologies, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, cooling infrastructure, environmental monitoring, and physical security systems.
- Proven hands-on experience managing enterprise-scale data centre operations.
- Solid understanding of data centre industry standards and best practices.
- Strong vendor management experience with the ability to oversee multiple service providers and drive service excellence.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working across business and technology teams.
- Familiarity with operational risk, audit, compliance, and governance requirements within regulated environments.
- Experience supporting business continuity, disaster recovery, and resilience planning activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to manage critical incidents under pressure.
- Experience within banking, financial services, insurance, or other highly regulated industries will be highly preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, CDCE, Uptime Institute, ITIL, or related qualifications would be advantageous.
- Fluent in Cantonese and English is mandatory; Mandarin would be an advantage
