Senior Program Manager – Projects & PMO

Davidson is partnering with a growing Australian organisation operating across resource recovery, telecommunications, infrastructure and Defence-related environments to appoint a Senior Program Manager – Projects & PMO.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the national delivery and governance of a diverse project portfolio while developing the organisation’s PMO capability.

This is a senior, hands-on project leadership role focused on creating consistency, strengthening governance and ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially and in line with contractual, regulatory and customer requirements.

The opportunity

You will take ownership of project performance across a national portfolio, with responsibility for:

• Providing national oversight across Resource Recovery, telecommunications, infrastructure and Defence-related projects
• Establishing and developing PMO governance, reporting, systems, templates and delivery standards
• Leading, coaching and supporting Project Managers and project teams
• Directly managing high-value, complex or strategically significant projects
• Monitoring project budgets, forecasts, margins, variations and financial performance
• Maintaining strong risk, issue, change and escalation processes
• Ensuring Defence-related projects meet relevant security, contractual, HSEQ and compliance requirements
• Building strong relationships with clients, executives, operational leaders, contractors and external stakeholders
• Coordinating project resourcing and workforce capability across multiple locations
• Driving continuous improvement across project delivery, reporting, governance and operational performance

About you

You will bring significant project management experience delivering complex, multi-site or national projects.

Your background could come from telecommunications, infrastructure, Defence, resource recovery or another complex field-based project environment.

The priority is finding an accomplished project leader with strong capability across:

• Project governance – risk management, change control, reporting and delivery assurance
• Commercial performance – budgeting, forecasting, cost control, variations and margin management
• PMO development – establishing or improving project systems, standards and governance frameworks
• Leadership – coaching Project Managers, setting clear expectations and building accountability
• Stakeholder management – confidently engaging with senior executives, clients, contractors and operational teams
• Compliance – strong understanding of WHS/HSEQ, contractor management and operational requirements

You will also be comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities across different locations, with strong digital literacy across Microsoft Office/Excel and operational or compliance platforms.

The ability to meet any relevant security clearance or Defence-related requirements will also be important.
