Lead Data Consultant

Lead Consultants at Data Insight own the work end-to-end. Delivery, client relationships, quality standards, project management, supporting team members, and innovation. You will be expected to think independently, shape how we approach problems, and drive things forward without needing to be
prompted.

We are looking for a Lead Consultant to join our team, reporting to a Director. You will take ownership of data and analytics engagements across a range of industries, selling the standard, working with senior stakeholders, and helping develop the people alongside you. We are a collaborative, high-performing team that moves at pace and genuinely supports each other. You will be responsible for:

• Running data & analytics engagements end-to-end, covering scoping, delivery, quality, and handover.
• Setting the standard on your projects, reviewing outputs from other project members, catching what doesn't land, and making sure the work is something the team is genuinely proud of.
• Owning delivery from brief to sign-off, managing scope and budgets, shaping what each engagement needs to succeed, pushing the team and providing guidance toward better answers on the hardest problems.
• Building client relationships that grow, owning the day-to-day, spotting new opportunities within the accounts you work on, and contributing to proposals when the opportunity is there.
• Navigating senior stakeholders with confidence, reading the room, managing expectations, and having the difficult conversation when it's needed.
• Challenging thinking and bringing ideas beyond the brief, aiming to improve client outcomes, not just client satisfaction.
• Developing your team and shaping how they work, through honest conversations about performance and growth, and building habits that outlast any single engagement.

What you will bring to this role:

• 7+ years' experience in analytics or data consulting, with at least 2 years leading delivery, not just contributing to it.
• Advanced SQL, proper modelling, performance-aware, and confident without a safety net.
• Power BI (or similar) visualisation tool, with a model-first approach and client-ready output.
• A track record of leading end-to-end project delivery, covering scoping, budgets, timelines, and the stakeholder conversations that come with it.
• Confidence with senior stakeholders, you can handle the hard conversations, not just the update calls.
• Commercial awareness, you understand project economics, spot scope creep before it becomes a problem, and always ask the 'so what.'
• Comfortable managing your own workload across multiple engagements in a fast-moving environment.
• A genuine desire to keep learning, picking up new tools and approaches as the work demand.
• Some experience mentoring or supporting junior team members, formally or informally.

Nice to have:

• Python skills across scripting, statistical analysis, or data science work.
• Exposure to data governance, data strategy, or advisory engagements.
• Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts and where they create real business value.
• Professional services experience working across multiple clients.
• Industry expertise in Financial Services or Utilities.
