The opportunity
We’re looking for a Rural Underwriter to join our North Sydney team, supporting brokers and intermediaries with timely, confident underwriting decisions across rural lifestyle, farm, crop, and livestock risks.
You’ll be a key technical voice in a growing business — helping us deliver fast turnaround, strong risk selection, and a consistent broker experience.
What you’ll do
- Underwrite rural risks (crop, livestock, farm and rural lifestyle) within delegated authority
- Respond to customer queries with clear, timely, solutions-focused decisions
- Triage referrals and structure competitive underwriting solutions
- Balance risk selection, pricing, and broker experience in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain clear and accurate underwriting documentation
- Contribute insights from the market to improve products, processes, and broker experience
- Support renewal retention and portfolio quality
- Engage with intermediaries, including occasional regional travel
What you’ll bring
- 3–5 years underwriting experience, ideally across rural, agricultural, SME or personal lines
- Strong understanding of rural or farm-related risks (crop, livestock, rural property or lifestyle risks highly regarded)
- Confident decision-making within delegated authority frameworks
- Strong communication skills with direct customers, brokers or intermediaries
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset in a fast-moving environment
- Curiosity and adaptability as the business continues to grow
