About the client

Our client is a well-established, publicly funded Sydney cultural institution with a history stretching back to the early nineteenth century, recognised as one of the country's most significant scientific and heritage organisations. Operating within the NSW public sector, it balances a strong public engagement mandate with a substantial collection, research and exhibition program. Behind the exhibits sits a busy operational environment, where ICT service delivery, cyber security and end-user computing all underpin the organisation's day-to-day work. The organisation is now looking for additional ICT leadership capacity to support an established team through a defined period.

About the role

This is a hands-on, people-focused ICT leadership role, brought in to keep day-to-day service delivery running smoothly for a defined period. You will take charge of an existing ICT team, providing direct people management, coaching and performance oversight, while overseeing service assurance, support and end-user computing standards across the organisation. The scope is deliberately practical: this role is about operational delivery and team leadership rather than project ownership or budget sign-off, giving you a clear mandate without the weight of strategic decision-making. It is a six-month contract suited to an experienced operator who wants to make an immediate impact within a well-regarded organisation.

Duties

• Manage the day-to-day functional delivery of ICT services, including service assurance, performance and availability.
• Lead and support the existing ICT team, including direct coaching and performance conversations with staff.
• Oversee end-user computing support and maintenance across the organisation.
• Apply cyber security best practice across day-to-day ICT operations.
• Review and recommend on matters that would normally require sign-off, escalating decisions to the appropriate approval authority.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing the day-to-day functional delivery of ICT services, including service assurance, performance and support.
• Demonstrated people management experience, including direct coaching and performance conversations with staff.
• Minimum five years' experience in the implementation, transformation and support of end-user computing environments.
• Working knowledge of cyber security best practices.
• Comfortable operating in a review-and-recommend capacity, without full sign-off authority.
• Public sector, NSW government or cultural institution experience highly regarded.
