An excellent opportunity is available for a Hospital Medical Officer (General) to join a major regional teaching hospital in Victoria, Australia, on a full-time fixed-term appointment from 19 October 2026 to 31 January 2027.

This position is ideal for doctors with at least two years of postgraduate experience who are seeking broad exposure across acute hospital medicine within a supportive teaching environment. Working alongside experienced consultants and multidisciplinary teams, you will develop core clinical skills across a variety of specialties while preparing for future specialty training.

The Role

As a Hospital Medical Officer, you will work within a structured clinical training programme, delivering high-quality patient care while developing your medical knowledge and procedural skills.
Depending on service requirements, rotations may include:

  • Emergency Medicine
You will work closely with consultants, registrars and multidisciplinary teams in the assessment, investigation and management of a wide variety of acute presentations.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must possess:
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Current General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) at the time of application.

  • Evidence of current immunisation, including the 2026 influenza vaccination.
