People Operations Manager

Davidson is proud to partner with Anglican Church Southern Queensland (ACSQ) in the appointment of a newly created People Operations Manager.

ACSQ is one of 23 Dioceses that form the Anglican Church of Australia. Through its network of parishes, schools, education and care services, community services, ministry education and social justice and advocacy, ACSQ plays an important role in communities across Southern Queensland.

Following a recent review of the People & Culture function, ACSQ is investing in its capability and creating this role to provide experienced operational leadership across People & Culture.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Group Manager, People & Culture, the People Operations Manager will take ownership of day-to-day People & Culture operations, providing practical and trusted advice to leaders and managers while strengthening the processes, systems and governance that support the employee lifecycle.

This is a hands-on senior HR role. You will work across a diverse stakeholder environment, partnering with senior leaders, managers, clergy and employees to navigate people matters, build manager capability and create a more consistent and contemporary People & Culture service.

A key focus will be supporting a shift towards a leader-led, People & Culture-enabled model building the confidence and capability of managers to take greater ownership of their people, while ensuring they have the right frameworks, advice and support around them.

You will also have the opportunity to identify what can be done differently and better. From improving workflows and reducing manual processes through to strengthening governance, policies, employee records and service delivery, you will play an important role in building the foundations for the future People & Culture function.

What you will bring

We are looking for an experienced People & Culture professional who has operated at this level before and understands what good looks like.

You will bring strong generalist HR capability and demonstrated experience across employee and workplace relations, organisational change, performance, manager coaching and the broader employee lifecycle.

Importantly, you will be someone who can build trusted relationships while still being prepared to provide clear advice and appropriately challenge established ways of working.

You will ideally demonstrate:

• Significant senior generalist HR experience within a complex organisation
• Strong employee and workplace relations capability, including the management of complex and sensitive matters
• Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act, modern awards and contemporary employment practices
• Experience improving HR processes, systems, governance and ways of working
• The ability to coach and influence leaders while strengthening manager accountability
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across a diverse organisation
• Experience working through organisational change or transformation
• A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to turn ideas into action
• Strong judgement, resilience and the ability to navigate complexity and competing priorities
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or a related discipline is desirable

The role offers $180,000 + super, with a Brisbane CBD location and some flexibility to work from home. Given the relationship-focused nature of the position, there will be an expectation to spend the majority of the initial period in the office and engaging with stakeholders across the Diocese.
