Product Engineer (Mechanical)

Overview:

This Product Engineer (Mechanical) role is a key member of the project team.

Our client is focused on a specific system with ADAS / AD. The product is more complicated than camera or radar and therefore more interesting.

Mission:

• Responsible for mechanical engineering (ECU, Motor, Torque Sensor and Connector) to meet customer requirements, expectation, and key customer milestones as a member on project development team.
• Participate in the discussion with the global team and meetings with customers and suppliers.
• Take a proactive approach to solving complex issues and make proper engineering decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for mechanical design and validation specifications.

• Lead technical discussion between customers and engineering. (Design Review, DRBFM, FTA, Compliance Matrix, Simulation, Testing)

• Execute Product Development Process on schedule.

• Lead product problem solving and root-cause analysis for mechanical topics.

• Evaluate customer requirements for System/Mechanical design.

• Support production in Suzhou (China) and other regions.

• Documentation Management for Engineering Bill-of-Material (EBOM), product drawings, DFMEA, and Engineering change request (ECR).

• Support prototype builds and off-tool sample builds.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree, major in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years design and application experience in Automotive Industry, Chassis related is preferred
• JOEM Customer interface and/or global project experience are preferred.
• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese & English.
  • Clear English to describe complex issue, tasks, facts, practices, procedures
  • Fluent Japanese to communicate without any misunderstanding with JOEM customer
    • Must have good experience / knowledge of Japanese OEM mindset and communication style, can effectively `read between the lines`
