Role:
- Manages competencies, trainings, methods, and tools of engineers in the region system organization
- System technical project management, system architecture, system requirement engineering (textual requirement-based and model-based system engineering, FUSA, cybersecurity)
- Accountable, together with his/her product line colleagues, for on-time/quality/within-cost generation of system deliverables in projects
- Functionally manages (directly or indirectly) all system engineers/System Technical Project Managers/FUSA engineers/CS engineers in Japan
Responsibilities:
Accountable for:
- Securing the capability of system Japan organization to deliver on-time, quality, and cost-efficient deliverables expected from the system teams in projects
- i.e. (1) architecture and function specification in each system release, and (2) technical consistency of the overall project, monitored through the on-time delivery of key mandatory deliverables on each engineering gate
- Apply in projects of the “state of the art” standards, processes, methods, and tools in his/her department
Support operations in:
- Defining outsourcing/offshoring strategies and footprint of system activities in Japan, as per BG guidelines, together with regional operations product lines
- Solving critical project issues
- Participating in technical discussions in RFQ with customer on system topics or on product functional topics
- Passing Aspice audits in projects
- Managing priorities for system topics
- Propose trainings and career evolutions
Budget:
- Responsible for his/her department budget; build, propose, and follow budget
- Contributes to project budget construction and monitoring: involved in workload estimations process and methods applied in System Japan activities, and in closing the loop between estimation and reality to improve forecast method
- Defines and monitors efficiency improvement activities for System Japan, in accordance with strategic guidance from BG, and local product line/region needs
Competence management:
- Ensures the right level of capabilities, competencies, and expertise of Japan System engineers by being closely involved in hiring, outsourcing, off-shoring, training roadmaps, and plans of these engineers (i.e. approves hiring of employees)
- Prepares and proposes candidates
Process, Methodology, Tools, Equipment:
- Contributes to the improvement of the standards, process, methods, and tools in the System discipline in relation to the System discipline network, especially the System discipline PGS and BG directors
- Check/audit the implementation of the standards (vs SiPH)
- Ensure the full deployment of 5 axes methodology
Networking
- Participate in and support the network of the System discipline
- Develop relationships with customers' system teams
Resources/Footprint
- Centralize information on all existing system resources in Japan
- Identify, create synergies, and ensure optimum use of all resources in Japan
- Identify the needs in terms of dedicated and shared resources. Organize the availability of shared resources with corresponding R&D Managers
- Continuously work with System Discipline Manager/Director to improve his/her footprint and performances
Requirements
- 10 years of experience in the related System discipline in automotive engineering or relevant industries
- Familiarity with ADAS system architecture, sensors, and functions is preferred
- Experience dealing with HKMC (development process, organization, specifications, etc), or eventually Japanese OEMs is preferred
- Model-based development
- English: good command
- Good to have: Korean fluent
