About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Applications Platform Manager to lead a team responsible for the operational management, continuous improvement, and support of a broad portfolio of enterprise finance applications.
 
This role is ideal for a technology leader who combines strong operational management, stakeholder engagement, service delivery, and continuous improvement capabilities with experience supporting business-critical finance systems.
 
While DevOps principles are highly valued, this role is not a traditional DevOps engineering position. Instead, the focus is on fostering collaboration, automation, operational excellence, and continual service improvement across a complex finance applications ecosystem.
 
You will lead a team responsible for the day-to-day management, reliability, support, and enhancement of critical finance platforms while partnering closely with Finance, Technology, Security, Integration, and Vendor stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
 
Platform Leadership & Service Ownership
  • Lead the operational management and support of enterprise finance applications.
  • Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team of application specialists, analysts, and technical resources.
  • Ensure service reliability, platform stability, and strong business outcomes.
  • Drive accountability, performance, prioritisation, and effective workload management across the team.
  • Establish and maintain service standards, operational metrics, and performance reporting.
Operational Excellence
  • Own and continuously improve operational practices across the platform landscape, including:
    • Platform administration and configuration
    • Access provisioning and role-based security controls
    • Disaster recovery planning, testing, and readiness
    • Audit and compliance activities
    • Integration oversight and support
  • Ensure operational processes are standardised, repeatable, and scalable.
  • Promote automation wherever possible to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
Continuous Improvement & Delivery
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across processes, tooling, workflows, and service delivery.
  • Lead the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and user experience.
  • Support business-led enhancement initiatives and platform optimisation programs.
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, learning, innovation, and service excellence.
Agile Ways of Working
  • Operate within a lean Agile environment.
  • Utilise ServiceNow as the primary intake, workflow, and service management platform.
  • Lead Kanban-based delivery practices to manage operational work and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure effective prioritisation and flow of work across the team.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
  • Build strong partnerships with Finance leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, and technology teams.
  • Manage relationships with software vendors and external service providers.
  • Collaborate with integration, infrastructure, security, and risk teams to ensure successful service delivery.
  • Communicate service performance, risks, priorities, and improvement opportunities to senior stakeholders.
Strategic Planning & Governance
  • Identify future platform requirements and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to platform roadmaps and service strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational governance, audit, risk, and security requirements.
  • Support business continuity and operational resilience objectives.
About You
 
You will be an experienced Applications Manager, Platform Manager, Service Delivery Manager, or Finance Systems Manager with a strong track record leading enterprise application teams in complex environments.

  • Experience leading high-performing application support or platform teams.

  • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles and practices.
  • Experience with incident, problem, change, and service request management.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar service management platforms.
  • Experience managing disaster recovery, access management, compliance, and audit requirements.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Experience managing vendors, suppliers, and support partners.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across business and technology functions.
Continuous Improvement & Agile
  • Experience working in Agile and Kanban environments.
  • Strong focus on automation, standardisation, and service improvement.
